Safari Highlights: Uganda surely commands a voice in the eco-tourism; among the attractions Uganda boasts of are the primates, abundant game, birds and scenic beauty. On this safari we shall take you to explore Uganda’s wildlife and also some of the authentic sites like the River Nile. During these two weeks, you get to see the Big Five, track Gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park and Chimpanzee expedition in their natural environment of Kibale Forest for an encounter of a lifetime, with the wild but habituated chimps. You will proceed to view unique games in our prized Murchison falls National Park and Queen Elizabeth National park and all through the journey you will experience lots of unique geographical features and scenic allure, plus a great deal of diverse cultures. The safari starts and ends in Kampala

Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Kidepo NP (9 hrs)

An early breakfast, followed by checkout and a long drive to the lands of the pastoralist Karamojong natives, arriving in the evening, lunch en route. This land also boasts of Kidepo Valley National Park, which is Uganda's second biggest National Park. Kidepo is one of Africa's last great wilderness areas- a tract of rugged savannah dominated by Mount Morungole and cut by the Kidepo and Narus Rivers. And with their perennial running water they make Kidepo an oasis in the semi desert. 

Check-in dinner and overnight at Apoka Safari Lodge (luxury) or Nga’ Moru wilderness camp (Mid-range).

Day 02: Karamojong Cultural Village tour (half day)

You will have a relaxed breakfast there after relax and take the rest of the morning at leisure until time for lunch. 

In the afternoon, you will be taken on a guided cultural village tour of the Karamajong manyattas (homesteads) where you will see kraals belonging to local communities, traditional costume, stools, spears headdress, knives, bows and arrows and jewellery among others. The visitors get a unique, unforgettable experience and understanding of the Nomadic lifestyle around Karenga and Kipedo. The elders will show you the Kraals, grinding stone, local defence fences and cultural dances known as ‘Edonga’. Not to be missed on this tour is the local community near the park staging cultural dances such as the Emuya of the Naporre and Nyangia, Larakaraka and Apiti dances of the Acholi are worthy to see and participate into. The tour is interesting and some of these items are worthy to take as souvenir. After this cultural thrill, you will return to the lodge to relax until time for dinner and overnight. 

Day 03: Kidepo Experience (full day)

Wake up early with just a cup of tea/coffee and head off on an early morning game drive to explore more of Kidepo. You will be rewarded with the diverse game in this well preserved wild! You will later return to the lodge for a full breakfast and take the rest of the say at leisure.

In the evening set off for and enchanting Ostrich drive around the Kanangorok hot springs. You will be rewarded with the variety and number of animals who come to drink water at the river banks. And Baboons may be seen roaming along the floor of Kidepo River and palm trees

Day 04: Transfer to Murchison Falls National park

Pick up from your hotel at 7.00am after breakfast, followed by a drive to Murchison Falls NP passing through beautiful woodlands and Savannah grasslands. With interesting stopover including the scenic Aruu waterfalls.. You will arrive in the afternoon at Chobe Safari lodge. Where you will check in and also have your late lunch then relax, while enjoying the hotel facilities until time for dinner and overnight. 

Day 5: The Murchison Falls Experience

After a relaxed breakfast you will check out and we drive to the Paraa sector of the Murchison falls arriving in time for lunch and checking in at the Paraa Safari lodge (luxury).

After check in, you will relax over lunch, and take the rest of the day at leisure.

In the evening you have the option of enjoying a game drive, while watching the beautiful Sunset in this amazing park.

Thereafter we shall return to your accommodation facility for dinner and overnight. 

Day 6: Morning Game drives and afternoon boat cruise

On this day you will have a unique experience of the scenic Murchion falls.. 

Wake up early with a snack and set off on a Sunrise game drive (about 6.30am) in the Nyamsika plateau, while  on the game drives, Cape buffalo, Rothschild's giraffe, Uganda kob, hartebeest and waterbuck are commonly seen. You may also spot oribi, bushbuck, Bohor reedbuck, shy sitatunga, bush duiker, warthog and Bush pig plus large carnivores including lion, leopard and spotted hyena.

Chimpanzees and olive baboons head the list of six species of primates found in the park. And Crocodile and hippo will be seen along the banks of the Nile. Some of the more common birds that can be seen include goliath heron, Egyptian geese, pelican, bee-eaters, kingfishers, hornbill, cormorant, saddle-bill stork and the rare shoebill stork.

After the game drive, you will return to the lodge for a full breakfast and then relax until time for lunch. 

After lunch, at 2.00pm you will proceed for a boat trip on the placid Victoria Nile, upstream, to the base of the falls. En route you will see hippos, crocodiles, water buck and a wide variety of birds like the unusual shoebill stork.

The boat stops just tens of meters from the "Devil’s Cauldron". From here you will disembark and take a hike to the top of the falls where your vehicle will be waiting for you for pick up. This is an awesome experience, as you will experience the Majestic Murchison falls forming into an impressive rainbow. – A great opportunity for pictures. Thereafter we shall return to your preferred accommodation facility for overnight (budget or luxury)

Day 7: Transfer to Kibale National Park/ Overnight stay.

Enjoy a relaxed breakfast, followed by a check out of the lodge and drive to Kibale Forest National Park. Along the way you will view the beautiful Albertine rift-valley escarpments on the countryside through Hoima to Fort-portal. On arrival you will check in at, Kyaninga lodge (or similar), where you will have lunch and then relax while enjoying the lodge’s facilities until dinner and overnight 

Day 8: Chimpanzee tracking in Kibale National Park. 

Early morning you will have breakfast, head to the park headquarters at 8.00 am for a briefing about the chimpanzees and after wards head to the forest for a guided chimpanzee tracking. The Park is reputed for having the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa.

Enjoy a guided nature walk in the tropical rainforest in search of the wild chimpanzees, and as well have an opportunity to see other primates like the golden monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, grey-cheeked Mangabey and red-tailed monkeys among others and as well view various bird species like the Rumped tinker bird, green breasted pitta and many more.

Return to the lodge for lunch, and then relax. In the evening you have the option to visit Bigodi birds’ sanctuary and enjoy an amazing birding experience. Thereafter you will return to the lodge for Dinner and overnight at your preferred accommodation facility (Budget, Midrange or luxury).

Day 9: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park/ Evening game safari 

Have a relaxed breakfast, followed by a checkout and drive to Queen Elizabeth National park. You will check in at Mweya Safari lodge (luxury) or Simba Safari lodge (budget). Where you we also relax until time for lunch.  

In the Afternoon, at 2.00pm you will go for a launch cruise along the Kazinga channel where you will view birds like malachite kingfisher, pink backed pelicans and saddle billed stork as well as wildlife animals such as hippos, elephants, buffalos and crocodiles along the channel. There after you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight your preferred accommodation facility (luxury or budget)

Day 10: Morning Game drive / Afternoon Boat Cruise / Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Wake –up on a warm-up cup of coffee, as you set off for an early morning game drive (about 6.30am) in the kasenyi sector.. This is an awesome experience to spot the animals in natural habitats. With higher chances of spotting elephants, solitary cape buffaloes, hyenas, lions, leopard, antelopes, warthogs and beautiful birds. This park has spectacular sceneries including Crater Lakes and rolling savannah plains overlooking the snow-capped of The Rwenzoris Mountain ranges. Return to the lodge for breakfast and relax till lunch.

In the afternoon you have the option of visiting the cultural group at Kikorongo, and they will perform their unique cultural dances as you sit at the Queen’s Pavillion while enjoying the cultural performance. On the drive back to the lodge, you will watch the sun set amazingly over the crater lakes, as you do a mini game drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 11: Ishasha game drive | Transfer to Bwindi National Park. 

In the morning right after breakfast, the trip will take you through the Ishasha sector to enjoy another game drive but this time giving you an opportunity to see tree climbing lions.  En route to Bwindi Gorilla park.

You will arrive in time for lunch at your accommodation facility. Check in and then take the rest of the day at leisure until time for dinner and overnight.

Day 12: Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi/ Bwindi Impenetrable National Park 

The day starts with an early breakfast and then you will be driven to the briefing point. After briefing you will be guided on Gorilla trails in search for the gorillas. The trek lasts from anything between 2 to 8 hours and therefore we recommend that you carry drinking bottled water and raincoat and comfortable shoes. 

On meeting the gorillas, you will spend maximum one hour with them and then later return to your hotel for meals and overnight.

Day 13: Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi (3-4 hirs)

Lake Buyonyi, should not to be missed when visiting Uganda... tucked away in the Gorilla Highlands, it is a must visit destination.. a perfect way to wind down your safari after the hectic Gorilla trek. Lake Bunyonyi offers hosts of thrilling aftivities ranging from: swimming, canoeing in a dugout canoe, boating, Island hopping, hiking, biking, birding, nature walks, village visits and interactive cultural visits. 

After a relaxed breakfast, we shall transfer you to the beautiful Lake Bunyonyi. After check in you will relax until time for lunch.  In the late afternoon you have the option to go for a canoe ride on scenic Lake Bunyonyi or simply relax and take the rest of your day at leisure.

Day 14: Lake Bunyonyi Experience

On this day you will experience the cultural allure of the Batwaa communities and the scenic boat rides to the Bunyonyi’s small islands will simply take your breath away.
