Jinja Excursions

No trip to Uganda is complete without a visit to the source of the Nile River at Jinja. It is believed that at this spot, the Mighty River Nile begins its 6,700 Km journey through Egypt into the Mediterranean Sea. The serene gardens here are very spacious with a variety of indigenous birds and monkeys with a beautiful view of Lake Victoria - a tempting arena for a picnic lunch!

THIS ONE-DAY EXCURSIONS STARTS AND ENDS IN KAMPALA!

Pick you up from your hotel / residence after breakfast followed by a drive eastwards passing through the scenic coffee, Tea and Sugarcane plantations and the colourful roadside fruit/vegetable markets. The first stop is the Ssezibwe Falls, a unique cultural site for a cultural experience – this river is believed to have been born by human and that it has a human twin brother.

There after we will stopover at Mabira Natural Forest for a brief nature walk and a snack at the Mabira Rain Forest Resort. The nature walk will give you opportunity to see the primates, birds and butterflies. From here we shall continue to visit the thunderous Bujagali Falls - a Busoga Heritage site. After this we shall break off for lunch at either the Jinja Nile Resort or the Black Lantern Restaurant where you will have your lunch overlooking the Nile.

After lunch, you will visit a spot where John Speke first discovered the source of the Nile River. A boat trip across the River will give you the opportunity to have a good time and at the same time you will be able to view a variety of water birds. You will conclude the sightseeing at the Ghandhi tomb and thereafter you may shop some souvenir at the crafts shops around the source of the Nile. From here we shall drive back to Kampala arriving in the evening.
